Are outside rental bikes permitted inside Ladakh sightseeing routes?
No. Outside commercial rental vehicles (e.g., Delhi, Srinagar, or Manali commercial plates) are strictly blocked by the Ladakh Bike Rental Cooperative from traveling to Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, and Tso Moriri. They are only permitted to travel to Leh town and out. Sightseeing inside Ladakh requires locally registered LA-02 or HP-xx commercial plates.

Can I take a rented bike from Delhi or Manali for sightseeing in Ladakh?
No. Under strictly enforced Ladakh Bike Rental Cooperative (LMBRA) rules, motorcycles rented from outside Ladakh (such as Delhi, Chandigarh, or Manali) are strictly banned from visiting restricted sightseeing zones including Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, and Tso Moriri. You must rent a local Leh-registered motorcycle with LA-02 yellow commercial plates to clear checkpoints.
